Today, May 15th, in addition to be my daughter’s first communion, marks Madrid’s city holiday in honor of its patron saint, San Isidro Labrador…which means Saint Isidore the Day laborer. This was a peaceful and pious man who devote much of his time to praying and working in the fields. On this day there are plenty of traditions to relive in the center of town and the kids run around dressed up as chulapas and chulapos, which are the tradtional loof for everyday Spain. But since it’s a Sunday, we didn’t get to enjoy it that much. They don’t ever assign and observed holiday. But I’m exhausted right now so I’ll have to tell you the rest tomorrow. Good night.
