Autonomous Elections

They’ve finally come.   It’s lection day for the autonomous communities, which basically means the regional elections.  Some 70,ooo political positions are at stake.  The central-right Partido Popular is expected to make major gains and the results should foreshadow next year’s general elections.  There is a great deal of discontent out there, and the growing protests in the major cities are indicative of that.  As was expected, the numbers grew as we headed into the weekend, with some 30,000 people gathering nationwide.  In a few hours we will have a better idea of just what kind of an effect they have had on the voters.
