The past few days have been perfect days to go around town and investigate. I was planning on going to the Templo of Debod on Thursday but got invited to visit a friend’s house for lunch and then it got late on me. Then I planned on going to the Temple yesterday but got to talking with my friends from work after work, and we all agreed it was a ideal day to hang out and be with friends and that was what we did. I guess I could have gone in the afternoon, but with it being Friday and all, I thought I would take a break from it all. Writing a guide about a city can be intensive and if you don’t step away from it all from time to time you lose perspective and interest. Just like spending too much time in a museum. I always recommend to people that they devote no more than an hour to an hour and a half to a museum if they want to get full enjoyment out of it. Otherwise, they will get tired of it and end up wanting to to leave rather than stay. It is always preferible to get out wanting more. The key is to know when that is. So that’s what I am doing now. I am heading off to the country. I am leaving Madrid for a day just in time. I haven’t been outside its walls since February. Damn, that’s a long time. I wanted to go see a summer camp I used to work and hadn’t had a chance to visit in a long time. It would be good to see people there.
